Connection of a "work" and its Workspace

When I’ve started drafting a document, I see it in the left pane under history. I can return to it by clicking that link. As far as I can tell, the UI does not communicate any relation that that work in progress and the “workspace” it originated from.
Does that relation persist? I would hope so in order to continue to leverage the workspace context documents in the continued refinement of the work.

If the relation remains, is it possible for the UI to expose this relation (if it does already and I missed it, my appologies)
